Mark has over forty years of experience in fixed income underwriting and sales, including serving as head of municipal trading and underwriting at Clayton Brown & Associates, a former Chicago-based broker/dealer prior to the firm’s acquisition by Dain Bosworth in the mid 1990s (later a subsidiary of RBC). As a municipal underwriter for seventeen years and an institutional salesperson for over twenty years, Mark has a nuanced understanding of and perspective on the municipal markets over a myriad of market cycles, as well as insights into institutional investor preferences and tendencies.
At Yuba, Mark focuses on the capital markets and is in frequent contact with the market and provides valuable insight into rate trends, investor preferences and other market factors affecting both tax-exempt and taxable securities, with the focused goal of assisting our issuer clients in obtaining the most attractive terms for their securities—regardless of whether bonds are sold on a competitive or negotiated basis. To this end, his primary roles during the pricing process include:
- Ensuring clear and transparent communication between the underwriting team and Yuba’s clients;
- Generating consensus among underwriting team members;
- Serving as a client’s advocate within the market and coordinating investor requests; and
- Price checking and providing an independent pricing opinion.
In addition to Clayton Brown/Dain Bosworth, Mark has also worked at Lehman, US Bank, and William Blair and is a past President of the Municipal Bond Club of New York. Mark is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson.
